APPROACH—Munger  is  connected  by  roadways  asw  well  as  railways  from  the 

Rest  of  the  country.One  has  to  travel  to  Jamalpur jn  by  many  trains  on  Delhi-Patna-Bhagalpur-Sahabganj-Haora  route  .From  there  one  has  to  take  local  train 

Bus  or  auto  rickshaw  to  Munger  covering  a  distance  of  about  10km.

jeep  trecker,  tamtam,  mini  buses  and  long  route  buses   are  chief  conveyance .

ABOUT   THE  SITE---The  age  of  the  fort  goes  as  back  as pre  historic  period  of

Mahabharat.,Where  it  is  said    that  it  was  capital  of  king  Karan>Scriptures  found  on   copper  foil    found  at  Kast harani  ghat    describe  it  to  be  under  the  custody  of

Pal  dynasty  kings  from  9^th  to  11^th  century.It  was  under  the  custody  of  Sultan  of 

Bengal  in  13th  century and  remind   under  muslims  up  to  17^th  centuryMirkasim  was  the  last  king  who  was  defeated  by  British  in1764

       The  site  to  be  seen  are  1Main  gate  with  watch  fixed  pillar  resting  on  oval

Entrygate.2Ammunition  factory which  was  started  during  time  of  Mirkasim itself.

3About  50’  deep    canalsand  1875’ wide  canals  from  three  sides  of  the   fort  in  which  the  Ganges  water  used  to  flow.4The  area  of  the  fort  is  about  222acres5

width  of  the  boundary  wall  is  about  30’  and  height  is  25’6A  small  mound  outside  the  fort  which  is  called  Karan  Chaura.5000 years  ago  king  karn  of  Mahabharat  used  to  donate  distribute  1.25  maans  of  gold every  day.7Damdam

kothi  in  west  side  which  was  formerly  residence  of  karn  ,now  it  is  residence  of  DM.8Remnants  of  two  tunnels  in  Damdam  kothi9Signs  of  four  tunnels  in  a  well  in  a  mosque  inside  the  Jail in the fort .One  tunnel  used  to  open  near  the  bank  of 

the  Ganges.Second  tunnel  opens  in  the  Shahi  garden or  company  bag  of  British  time  or  Jaiprakash  garden  of  the  present  time.3^rd  opened  in  nearby  house  and  4^th 

opened  5km  away    on  Pir  pahar  where  Gurmin  khan   the  then  commander  of  Mr

Kasim  lived.
