APPROACH    ON  THE  LOCATION__It  is  located  8km  SE  of  Shergargh  fort  and  18km  NW   of    Sasaram  on  the  boarder  areas  three  PS  Adhaura,Rohtas and  Sasaram.It can  be reached only   by  roadways   from  the   district  headquarters  Sasaram  and Bhabhua bybuses,Jeeps,and autorickshaws  and  tamtam(the  horsecart).Nearest railway  station is Sasaram on  Mughalsarai  -Howrah  Grand  chord  rail  line.Sasaram  itself  is  on  NH2  or G  T  road ,which  connects  the  site by  westward  road  drive  to  national  capital  Delhi  and  state  capital  Patna  by  joining  it  with   NH 98  at  Aurangabad

ABOUT  THE  SITE __The  site  is  worship  place  of  lord  Shiva.It  has  geographical  and  geological  importance.Because  water  trickling  from  limestone  beds  of  Kaimur  have  given  rise  to Stalctite  and  stalagmite geological  strucures   and  deposit  of  algi (Kae)  over  it   has  made  it  resemble like  jata  of  lord   Shiv   in  cave  which  has  been  named  Gupteshwar  DhamThe  entry  to  the  cave  is  in  hillock  about  20’  above  ground  level  and  from  west  side.Mouth of  the  cave  is  18’wide  and  12’  high.Getting  entry  from  east  face  the  cave  ways  out  in three corridors  in  North,East  and  South  directions.These  again  divide  into  few  corridors.After  moviing  140’  in  eastern  direction   it  takes one turn  towards  south  and  another  towards  north.The  cave  way  going  straight  towards  east   goes  to  a  length  of  380’.This  path  way  is  called  Ghordor (horserace)  because  path  surface  has  marks  of  ditches  made  by  horse  foot  Right side  of  this  is  slippery  and  sloppy  and  dangerous . After  that  the  path  becomes  very  constricted  and  dark  and  completely  unfit  for  moving  ahead.Local  say  is  that  this  it  goes  up  to  Vishnupad   temple  n  Gaya.The  corridor  which  goes  towards  south  is  about  240’  water  trickling  from  the  ceiling  is  althrough   the  cave .  Stalactite  deposits  lurk  from  the  roof  from  the  lime  stone  beds.It  looks  like  Jata(twisted  uncombed  hair)  of  lord  Shiva.  At  the  end  of  the  cave   the  floor  deposit  of  Stalgmite  has  taken  shape  of  about  4.5’natu -ral  shivling due to denudation and continuous  rubbing  of local devotees for long time  naming it  as  GUPTESHWAR NATH Pilgrims pour the Ganges water with enchanting of HarHar-Mahadeo  mantra.The  water  drps  of  water  continue  to  fall  from  abou  100’  and  devotees stand there with  their  mouth  widely  open  to  grasp  it  as  prasad  of  blessing 

The  second  corridor  which  goes  towards  north  extent  to  a  length  of  about  92’.At  the  end  it  has  a  room  of  about  100  sqr  yards.It  is  called  “Nachghar”  or  “Tulsichaura”.Its fursh   is  very  smooth   and  fresh  air is  availed  here.After  moving   further  from  here  in  Eastward  direction  the  cave  path  becomes  very  constricted  with  dificulty  in  breathing. Establishment of    Brahmbjoni,      patalganga,       panchpandaw   named   tirthas   way  ward  in   the  the  cave  way   indicates  its  far  and  wide  relationship  with  the  cultural  history  of  India.

FESTIVITY AND VISITING PERIOD_-Basant  panchmi,Makarshankratri, Mahashivratri   and  Shravan  mela  attracts  as  main  festival But  now  a  days  daily  crowd  is  solicited  specially  in  dry  season

PRECAUTION__Precaution  has  to  be  taken  hilly  slippery  rise  in  the  cave.The  area  is  a  bit  naxal  affected.

OTHER   SITES__Origin  of  hilly  rivers  like  Durgawati,  Sugia,and  Gopeshwary,There  meandering   dtone  cuts  ,formation  of  valleys  and  scarp  fall  are  vividly  worth  seeing sites  in the  round  about  area.;Which  is  a  must  see and enjoy  for  geology  and  geography  students

REMARKS__Movement  in   the  cave  with  enchanting  montra  “Ram  Nam  Tak  Dhyan “  was    a  very  difficult  process  . But  now  it  has  bcome  easier.
